Washington DC — U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (RW.Va.), senior member of the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, and Joe Manchin (DW.Va.), all members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced today the funding for water Resource projects and programs in West Virginia through the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).This funding is through Infrastructure Investment and Employment Law (IIJA).
“The Army Corps of Engineers is an important partner in West Virginia, where we have many rivers, lakes and streams,” ranking member capito says“This latest round of IIJA funding will help sustain important projects like Summersville Lake, support water and wastewater services in central and southern West Virginia, and protect our communities from flooding. I’m proud to have Advocate for this funding and will continue to serve as the Republican leader on the EPW committee to provide critical water infrastructure for our state.”

- Jennings Randolph Lake – $27,500,000 for operations and maintenance activities
- lake somersville – $6,500,000 for operations and maintenance activities
- Central West Virginia Environmental Infrastructure (Section 571) – $2,135,000 for water and wastewater treatment projects
- Southern West Virginia Environmental Infrastructure (Section 340) – $1,500,000 for water and wastewater treatment projects
- Stonewall Lake Jackson – $350,000 for operations and maintenance activities
- burnsville lake – $225,000 for operations and maintenance activities
- Sutton Lake – $249,000 for operations and maintenance activities
- Kanawha River, Spruce Street, St. Albans, W.Va. – $200,000 for pre-construction, engineering and design of riparian reinforcement projects
- Kanawha River, Upton Light, South Charleston, W.Va. – $200,000 for pre-construction, engineering and design of riparian reinforcement projects
- Elk River, Elkview, W.Va. – $50,000 to continue research on riparian stabilization projects
